SWISS Business Class Lounge Zurich Review
We recently flew with the Austrian carrier – Austrian Airlines, from Zurich, Switzerland to Vienna, Austria in Business Class and had the opportunity to visit the SWISS Business Class lounge in the Zurich international airport prior to departure for Vienna. With Austrian airlines and SWISS Airlines falling under the Lufthansa group (read our most recent Lufthansa Business Class Lounge Munich review here), we have access to facilities that partner under Lufthansa.
As we already had our boarding pass we didn’t need to check in, and were able to head straight to security. Although the security line was quite busy, access to the priority lane – an Austrian Airlines Business Class benefit, allowed us to move through within 5 minutes whereas the economy line presumed to take anywhere from 20-30 mins waiting in line.
Layout
SWISS Business Class Lounge Zurich was easy to locate on level 2. First entering, there was a capacity measure sign out the front indicating travellers on how busy or full the lounge may currently be. Although a nice feature, we feel people would stil enter regardless of the capacity measure.
As soon as you walk in, there is a smaller lounge located to your left with ground floor seating and some sweets provided in a large bowl, with the main section of the lounge located upstairs. Here, SWISS Business Class Lounge Zurich was sectioned into a dining area with tables and chairs, and then couches surrounding. For us to arrive at 6am, it was very busy with most seats and tables taken. We were able to find a lounge chair and settled in toward the back of the lounge.
To the right of where we were seated they were two available working booths, which had a chair and a desk along with a sliding door for privacy. This proved to be a nice work space later on, as it was quiet and had multiple charging ports.
Food and Beverage Options
The food provided was probably some of the best we have experienced on this trip. Having arrived in the morning they were serving breakfast which consisted of fresh fruit, a selection of cold meats and cheeses, a range of cereals, along with fresh pastries and of course – coffee!
The pastries that were provided were a huge winner as they were being baked in real time behind the breakfast bar and so were incredibly fresh. We opted for yoghurt and a freshly baked croissant with strawberry jam for breakfast. It was very delicious.
The food stations were clean and constantly being replenished with food, which was a great feature considering how busy the lounge was.
Another feature of the lounge which we didn’t explore much of due to the timing of the day, was a self serve wine area. This was located towards the corner of the lounge, however wasn’t very busy during our time, but we can imagine activity would pick up moving closer to a lunch time hour.
SWISS Business Class Lounge – Summary
Due to our flight being called shortly after arrival, we only got to spend a small amount of time in the lounge, but it overall was a very comfortable experience. Although it was small and busy due to the given peak travel times, the service provided was good, while the seating was cosy.
