Here are some of our packing tips

• Buy a good quality case if you planning on doing more than one trip per year. Your bags will get thrown around in transit, the more robust the better.

• Put a bright label or colourful tag on your bag to help identify it on the carousel (and avoid leaving the airport with someone else’s luggage)

• Keep your most valuable items in your carry on luggage or on your person. This way they are with you at all times. These things include your passport, money, wallet, itinerary and details of where you are staying at your upcoming destinations.

• If you need medical items make sure they are labelled as they were from the pharmacist and if necessary take a doctor’s letter. Check with the airline before flying on their regulations, it’s better to be safe than sorry. Carrying unmarked pharmaceuticals can result in you being denied entry into a country, and at the very least, cause you unnecessary delays at the airport.

• If you are travelling with valuable jewellery ensure that it is covered on either your travel or home & contents insurance.

• Weigh your bag before, if you are over 20kg rethink it, airlines can charge $60+ per kg for extra baggage.

Carry-on Luggage

There are restrictions to any liquids, aerosols, gels, and powders that passengers want to take in their carry-on baggage which must comply with Government and Airport regulations.

As a general rule, liquids must be in containers of 100 millilitres/grams or less  and all the containers must be sealed in a transparent,  plastic bag. You may still carry on board prescription medicines, baby products and non-prescription medicines that you need for the flight, however proof of need may be required.

When you get to the screening point, you will have to surrender any liquids, aerosols or gels greater than 100ml/g that you still have with you, including duty free.

The most common mistake made with carry on liquids is the container size must be less than 100ml, not just what is inside the container. Many deodorant cans are 110g/ml so be sure to buy travel appropriate toiletries if you plan to take them onboard with you. These restrictions do not apply to checked-in luggage.
