British Airways Business Class Club Suite Review

British AirwaysBusiness Class

We recently flew with British Airways from Singapore to Sydney on a Boeing 777-300 and experienced their Business Class Club Suites, after first visiting the British Airways Business Class Lounge in Singapore. As part of the oneworld alliance, British Airways Club Suites can be included on a oneworld Business Class RTW fare.

After exiting the lounge there was a long line to go through another security checkpoint enter the gate area. This was due to having three gates with three departing flights and no priority line for Business Class or other priority passengers. This made the process slower, however, believe this isn’t a very common occurrence.

With all B777’s completed in 2022, the Business Class Club Suites began being fitted in 2019. Featuring a 1-2-1 layout, they replaced the old Club World seats which has a 2-4-2 configuration. With all seats now having direct aisle access, this solved a common complaint amongst passengers. All window seats are angled outwards toward the window while all middle seats are angles toward each other, plus each suite features a fully closing door for increased privacy. Overhead storage compartments are down both middle and window sides and are accessible easily from your seat.

On arrival, there was a large pillow and blanket by The White Company. All storage compartments were open to display storage spaces and amenities, however this did make the space slightly overwhelming at first. The bench next to the window had a larger storage section which also had charging points, headphones and a TV controller.

Another storage cupboard was also above the bench which had a mirror and water bottle, while there is a space available for small items under the seat. Seat controls are located on a touch screen next to the seat, while the tray table is located under the entertainment screen.

The amenity kit was very comprehensive. It included an eye mask, socks, dental kit, earplugs, pen pulse point scent, lip balm and moisturiser, all from The White Company.

After takeoff a Champagne and water was offered and meal request were taken, all while the airline played opera music. The menu offered a selection of one of three dishes for both starter and main course.

I selected the smoked salmon with celeriac apple remoulade, salmon roe, beetroot jelly, lime creme fraiche and balsamic dressing. Although I was asleep when meal service began, the attendant came straight back to offer me my meal once I was awake. The smoked salmon was nice and fresh and had good flavour.

For the main course, I selected the braised beef cheek with mushrooms, pearl onions, carrots, sautéed spinach and fondant potatoes. The meal was filling, had good flavour but would have preferred it slightly less cooked.

For Dessert, we were offered a selection of four dishes. I picked the strawberry cheesecake. It was very creamy and delicious and probably my favourite meal of the flight.

The IFE screen was a large 17 inches with a good selection of movies and tv shows. The remote also displayed the screen, a feature we’re seeing more often these days.

When it was time for bed, I converted the seat into a fully flat bed using the seat controls and closed the door for extra privacy. The bed was fairly comfortable with enough room to move around.

Although I slept through breakfast, the attendants were once again quick to offer me my meal once awake. Having only one option for breakfast, all passengers were served fruit, yoghurt, scrambled eggs with gammon ham on ciabatta along with a selection of warm breads and pastries.

The upgrade of the British Airways Business Class Club Suites are a huge improvement on the older product. The new 1-2-1 layout allows direct aisle access for each seat and more space to stretch, while the fully closing door gives the suites a private and secluded feeling.
